Playwrights Project
In this project, we had to write an original play, and then vote on the ones that should be in a production. I had almost no trouble writing mine. I thought that it was pretty easy writing my play, it was also selected as one of the 8, called Lockdown. It was about three kids that literally drive their teacher crazy by making fun of her and her dead parents. The teacher comes back with a gun and holds the school hostage, and the three struggle under the pressure to survive. Brett, on of the characters reveals that he was going to kill himself after school and pulls out a gun from his bag, walks outside, kills the teacher, and comes back in, just to say goodbye to his two other friends.
In the production I was in, I was chosen to be an actor. I had to act as a bully, named Biff, who bullies a nerdy boy, named Alex, because he has an imaginary friend. In the end, I pretend to befriend him so he doesn't fall into depression, but reveal my true feelings about him in the end and causes him to break down in tears because he grew out of his imaginary friend. The most challenging part of this project was trying to get the feel of the character I was acting as because I don't like bullying. I overcame this just by practicing being mean to Alex and it worked itself out in the end.
