This year in art class for me has been one of great improvement and creativity. I can say that confidently because this is the first year that I have ever made a product that is actually bigger than me. My skills in art class have greatly developed it has been both fun and a pleasure doing so. Coming into this class, I could barely draw a circle or any basic structure or drawing. Now, I can confidently work with a pencil or pastels or watercolor to create something that I never thought I could. Below are some of the many products that I created this semester in art.

FaithThis drawing was made for an integrated project with biology. We had to somehow create a drawing for the section that we wrote in our book of On the Origin of the Species. For mine, I designed to illustrate the conflicting arguments of how our world was created and what it has done to sustain life forms throughout its life span. The cross represents a creationist standpoint while the DNA helix represents an evolutionary standpoint. The piece in a whole represents that it takes equal faith to believe in either ideology.

"Aliens"For this drawing, we were really open to what exactly we could draw. I wanted to take a more humorous route and draw a famous picture from the History Channel's show "Ancient Aliens" of Giorgio Tsoukalos explaining the reasoning for a certain ancient artifact being a certain way, and of course, as the show implies, blaming it on "aliens".

CliffordThis little sketch was done as a part of a children's book project that we were doing in Spanish and we were tasked with drawing a scene or character from a children's book that we used to read. I chose Clifford the Big Red Dog because I remember loving the book as a child and I really wanted to give a shot at drawing animals. I was happy with the end product and it turned out fairly accurate.
